Independent support, are a government funded, non-profit organisation providing free, impartial, independent support to parents/carers of children and young people with SEN, who are either transferring from a Statement to an Education, Health and Care Plan or are a new referral to the Education, Health and Care needs assessment process.
Our main role is to ensure that the views, wishes and feelings of the child or young person, and the child’s parents are reflected in the EHC needs assessment process and support to complete a One Page Profile.
We also provide a named contact to support throughout the process, help parents to understand the Local Offer, provide information about personal budgets and signpost to information, advice, and support services across education, health and social care.
